The Biosphere Process™ System provides for the conversion of waste materials (which includes municipal solid waste, agricultural or forestry surpluses, industrial or medical waste materials, natural gas (flared), soft coal, shale oil, or traditional fossil fuels) into electricity.

The Biosphere is a three stage gasifier, designed to deliver combustion gas, without separation, via a venturi to a steam boiler / turbine combination. The Biosphere differs from traditional gasifiers in that the system does not separate or purify syngas. Rather, it makes a direct heat transfer which significantly enhances the efficiency of the system compared to other technologies.

The Biosphere Process™ is a gasification system, i.e. low oxygen input, therefore ecologically superior to incinerators. Incinerators are a primary source of pollutants because they do not control oxygen delivery to the system; they pump out dioxins, COx, SOx, NOx, and other emissions. However, when a Biosphere is used, these problems are eliminated because the process is a “starved oxygen” gasifier, i.e., controlled oxygen = predictable emissions, ergo no dioxin etc.”

The gasifying of the organic waste in this manner (i.e. in an oxygen deprived environment) prevents combustion, smoke and odor, and then transforms the waste into steam and other gasses, which run a steam turbine to produce electricity. The remaining solid waste becomes a pulverized powder, which can be sold as by-product for use in the building industry.

The Biosphere Process™ System, when operated on Municipal Solid Waste (“MSW”), takes place in five distinct stages.

Each receiving line operates at 30T/hr; one receiving line operating at 80% capacity will process sufficient MSW to power a system for a 24-hour period

The process is designed to produce a high value inert pozzolanic ash, which is then recycled into concrete products for the building industry, thus ensuring 100% recycling of all MSW handled through the Biosphere Process™ completely replacing traditional land filling as a method of waste disposal

The agreement, made with the Toombs County Board of Commissioners, calls for a two phase construction plan that will include up to three Biosphere Gasification Systems. An Energy Purchase Agreement with Georgia Power Company was also executed in conjunction with this project which states that Georgia Power Company will purchase the 24 megawatts of renewable energy produced onsite. The Toombs County Project represents the creation of 30 new green collar jobs and approximately $34 million in new capital investment to the State of Georgia.

In, 2009 the Company signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Toombs County for 5 acres of land and building under a ten-year agreement renewable for 10 years.

Contracts and Agreements cover the following critical elements of the project:

• Location for the Biosphere Process™ System secured by long term lease or purchase

• Manpower resources available for contract in support of local operations

• On going support of the landfill if collocated on site ensuring waste access and emergency support

• Appropriate access for delivery of feed stock including but not limited to truck or rail haulers

• Access to water supply and guarantee of delivery via truck or pipeline depending on configuration

• Long term guarantees of waste delivered to the System

• Planning, zoning and permitting support from the municipality and county

• Right of way access to the Grid for interconnect

• Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
